What are the best LED flashlights out there? A friend of mine let me borrow his surefire led flashlight to take camping. It was awesome. Small, light, tough, very bright and waterproof. I know that surefires are expensive. But are they the best? Are there any other companies that make similar or better LED flashlights? Cheaper? The main thing I want them to have is to be tough, reliable, bright and waterproof. A lifetime warranty or better would be awesome as well as it seems that most if not all of surefire's flashlights come with one.
What does the number in LED Flashlights stand for? I was looking online at LED flashlights and some say 9 LED, some say 32 LED, and some say 100 LED. What does the number stand for? Output intensity? I know it does not stand for the quantity of flashlights in that auction because they are all 1 item auctions. Thanks for your input!
About how many lumens are the cheap 9 LED mini flashlights? I bought this performance tool 9 led flashlight for like 2 bucks at advance auto. Its handy but i am thinking about spending ~30 to get a better flashlight that is around 100 lumens. I am just curious to find out about how many lumens this flashlight is to know if it would be that big of an improvement but i cant seem to find information on how many lumens it has anywhere
Are LED flashlights explosion proof? Would if the LED is waterproof? I would think with the flashlight being waterproof the gases could not enter into any part of the flashlight to ignite anything. What do you think?
LED vs. regular flashlights? My Mom recently bought some LED flashlights instead of regular ones. She insists that it is brighter and easier to see. Now, I am color blind and have vision damage, but I don't think they are nearly as good as a regular flashlight. Why the difference?
How to replace an led flashlight bulb that is soldered to its switch "component" with a lightbulb with wires? I have a cheap dollar store "finger" flashlight.I took out the guts and it looks like this... It takes 3 very small watch like batteries (LR41 size). It has an led type bulb soldered to a small board that has a switch with batteries extending beyond that. My intention is to create a lamp for my dollhouse roombox (a dentist overhead light to be exact). I need to revamp this thing so I can switch it on and off beyond the walls of the box. Could it be possible to remove bulb and replace with one with wires attached so I could turn light source on and off from a distance??? Note: I know very little about either electronics or soldering.
How to make led flashlight for a total beginner? Im intrested in making a flashlight with super-bright white leds but im a total beginner with electronics. I was wondering if I could gut one of my old flashlights find a way to mount my leds in it and hook them up to a battery. Could i do that, what kind of battery and leds should i use and how will i make a switch that will work?
What kind of batteries should I use for an LED flashlight, heavy duty or alkaline? The LED flashlight uses 4 AA. Also, the box says if you're not gonna use the flashlight for extended periods of time, to keep the batteries out of the flashlight to prevent leakage and other bad stuff. >>>Just how long of non-usage would I want to keep the batteries out? >>>Would I have this same concern with alkaline batteries since they're supposed to be (more) leak proof?
Is there a special brand name led flashlight that I should buy? I asked if there was a way that I could see through the game cards that I got from fast-food places like McDonald's. I received several good answers telling me to use a "led" flashlight. I looked up the flashlight on the internet, and found them to be used mostly on key-chains, which I have several. They didn't work. I was wondering if there are special brand names, or types that I should be looking for and where can they be purchased. Thanks for any help you can give.
Visual inspection with non LED flashlight specified why? The visual inspection instructions of a maintenance task specified not to use an LED flashlight why? Is the white color of the light detrimental to a visual inspection, are they too bright does the frequency of light block the detection of cracks or shadows? I don't think Robert has it right because the procedure states if cracks were detected or suspected to perform a dye penetrant inspection.
I have an LED flashlight question about IR Filters? If LED flashlights do not emit any infrared light unlike the fluorescent flashlights, how can an IR Filter cancel out the non-infrared portion of the light spectrum on an LED flashlight if there isn't any infrared light?
Does strobe effect reduce the lifespan of a led flashlight? I have a led flash light (a nuflare rebel 90) and i was wondering if doing a strobe effect (switch it on and off real quick) or using it short busts at a time will reduce the lifespan of the flashlight? Or does it have the same effect compared to when its constantly lit?
High output LED Flashlights that run on AA,AAA batteries that won't break the bank? How do I make a strip of LED lights that plug into an electrical outlet and have an on/off switch? I have been searching online ALL DAY and found some really cool ideas like throwies, and LED flashlights, and other battery operated LED's. But what I want to make is a strip of LED lights that I can arrange in a long narrow balsa-wood box,(about 2"X2"X36") with the actual diodes poking through holes in the top of the box. And then, at the end of the box, I want an electrical cord so that I can power this without batteries. So far, I know that I want 10mm diffused LED's, because the diffused ones are brighter and have a broader viewing angle. I'm looking to use about 100 LED's in this strip. And I think one idea for the on/off switch would be that little dial that you hook up to the middle of the cord, like on a lava lamp. Thing is, I don't know a thing about wiring, electricity, or building things of this sort, except the wood working parts. So I don't know what parts are what, what the names for all the little parts are, or how to use them. HELP!! Oh yeah.... what the heck are resistors? Remember, people... I am really electronically challenged. I'm still trying to figure out how to make my oven light turn off.... aside from removing the bulb.
Anyone know a good LED flashlight for camping? I'm going on a camping trip next month and I want a powerful flashlight to bring with me. I looked at the Duracell Daylight LED Flashlight but I feel like the two AA batteries wont last long.
mechanical LED flashlights? According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyno_torch), a mechanically powered flashlight (or dyno torch) has a device called the flywheel that can store energy. From this, the user squeezes a handle to operate a small dynamo which supplies an electrical current to a miniature incandescent bulb for it to operate. My questions are: 1. How much energy does it store in the flywheel? 2. How much energy do we produce every time we sqeeze the handle? 3. Is possible for this mechanism to generate enough energy (with a few modifications if necessary) to make a mechanically powered hand held fan (ex: http://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/5462/2h/amplestuff.safeshopper.com/images/w0fks5v.jpg)? Much thanks!

What's the cheapest LED ultraviolet flashlight? What's the cheapest LED ultraviolet flashlight? I already have an ultraviolet flashlight, but it's not very good. I really want one like a Mag Light but with an ultraviolet LED. Is there such thing? How much is it?
How to fix flickering LED flashlight? So I have gotten 3 or 4 of those LED flashlights you find at places like smoke shops, grocery stores, etc. ranging from $5-$20 each. Every single one of them eventually starts to develop a flicker to them, that usually goes away if I shake the flashlight. Is there anything that can be done to fix this, such as steel wool the inside casing for better grounding, re-soldering parts, etc? I would pull it apart but there is a metal ring preventing me from doing so in the part with the bulbs. Thanks

Shaking Flashlights good for the environment? okay im pretty sure all of us have flashlights and we would use them from time to time but the thing is they require batteries and mainly they use disposable batteries and its polluting to the environment. there is an alternative to this and t is an LED shake flashlight where it requires no batteries and lasts pretty long. so hearing this now if you regularly uses flashlights for whatever reason will u use this product not only to help the environment but save u some money in the process? http://cgi.ebay.com/SHAKE-FLASHLIGHT-LASTS-FOREVER-NO-BATTERIES-BRIGHT-NEW_W0QQitemZ8763658024QQcmdZViewItem You can also buy them at Walgreens (recommended) and they are very good quality too.

Super high powered LED flashlight? Hi, Just wondering, how powerful these can theoretically be, I mean how powerful do light-emitting diodes actually come? What colors do they come in? Also, with a focusing lens, would it be likely to have much range? Also, I was wondering if this has the potential to be dangerous, like maybe temporarily blind someone, or cause some damage to the eye?
Flashlights with power of 10-15 million candles? I was just wondering what are some uses for these? I remember when I was in 5th grade, a camp counselor had one of them when we went hiking, but a regular LED flashlight probably would have sufficed. What else could these powerful flashlights be used for?

Best pocket/compact LED flashlight? I work as a Park Ranger for a very large facility so at night it's nice to have a flashlight with me in case I need to use it. I find, however, that for most of my duties, I don't need to carry a full-sized one everywhere at night as it just gets in the way. So with that said, do you guys have a favorite LED light that fits in the pocket or in a case on the duty belt? Thanks.
LED flashlight question? Just curious, I've been told that you should shouldn't shine an LED light directly in someone's face since the light hurts their eyes. But one thing I thought about though...would using an LED flashlight for candling harm a bird still developing in an egg? I meant like any pet bird: parrot, dove, macaw, pigeon, etc...
