Maglite flashlight bulbs? I have a 3D cell Maglite with the standard bulb in it (22,000 candlepower White Star lamp). I want to upgrade to the recommended - Xenon Mag-num Star Lamp. They recommend the usual LMSA301 for the 3D cell and up to the 30,000 candlepower LMSA601 for the 6D cell The bulbs have the same head diameter so if I put a bulb made for the 6D in my 3D Maglite, will it be brighter than if I went with the 3D bulb? Removing the end cap on a maglite flashlight...? I have one of the 4 D maglites...For some reason, I cant get the end cap off to put batteries in...Ive tried pliers, a pipe wrench, WD 40....It is an old flashlight, but has been in a cabinet, so it shouldnt have corroded...Anyone else have any kinda problem like this?...Any ideas on how to loosen the cap up to get it off?...Thanks....

Why are rechargeable batteries not recommended for use in a Maglite LED flashlight? I purchased a small Maglite LED flashlight that takes 3 AA batteries. My thought when I purchased it would be that a child could use it as much as desired without having to spend a fortune on replacement batteries, because we have a steady supply of rechargeable AA batteries and a charger. When I read the fine print on the flashlight package insert, I notice that it says not to use rechargeable batteries. Why is this? Is there an elevated risk of fire, chemical burns, or other catastrophies if we use this flashlight with rechargeable batteries?

Maglite 3watts 2D and regular 2D mag-lite flashlight? What's the diference

could i put a AA mini maglite bulb into a AAA mini maglite? i own several mini maglites (AAA and AA versions). i was wondering if i could safely place a AA krypton bulb into a mini maglite that takes AAA batteries and is supposed to take the AAA vacuum bulb. a krypton bulb is twice as bright as a vacuum bulb so that is why i want to do this but, it could also draw more current from the AAA batteires and i was wondering if that could damage the circuitry of the flashlight?

I think my husband is addicted to pain medication? We're currently separated due to his multiple DUIs and several spousal abuse incidents that are still in litigation. He has an abbreviated disk in his back and has been seeing a licensed chiropractor for the past year or so. Anyway, our MD prescribed him Oxycontin for his pain but I'm afraid that he has become addicted. According to his current girlfriend, whom I speak to more than he'd like to know, he had turned to a drug supplier for his medication. I can not re-assemble my mini maglite!? My flashlight was not working when I got it out today, so I looked up solutions online and they all said to check the bulb. So I did, no problem. Eventually I got the flashlight to work again, but now I can not get the headpieces to fit back on (namely the reflector and the lens). I didn't pay attention to how it fit together before I took it apart, because I have taken it apart many times and have not had this problem. However, this is the first time that I have taken the lightbulbs out (so that the little prongs are shown) and basically dissembled the flashlight down until it says "do not remove". Please if you know of why it is doing this and how I can fix it, I could use advice. And apologies for using terms like "the little prongs things". I am not an expert obviously.

Are rechargable batteries (AA example) allowed on US Navy ships? I mean, due to the consumer electronics personnel use on the ships, obviously they would recharge something like an I pod or video camera battery. However, what about something like a Maglite 6D flashlight (random example). I mean, those are the kind of batteries that if left around and get damaged would be hazardous due to the materials inside, right? Correct me if I am wrong. Also, can you guys give me a link on what the stores on Navy ships keep on stock? I've heard that you can purchase good quality consumer goods like video cameras and such.

What kind of batteries should i use in a flashlight ni-cd or ni-mh? I have a maglite 4 D flashlight. I use it alot and wanted to know which kind of battery would be best. I have rechargable ni-cd batteries and rechargable ni-mh batteries. It seems like the light is brighter with the ni-cd batteries in the flashlight. Would this be true. Does ni-cd have a lower voltage drop under a load then ni-mh batteries. I like to use the ni-mh batteries becuse they have a higher MAH rating than the ni-cd. Also the load on the batteries is 800 mah. Tested with a ampmeter.

What's a good flashlight to keep in the car? I'm looking for a bright flashlight that I can keep in my car should I ever have something come up like something with the car so I can see underneath and look under the hood and see if anything is wrong. It could potentially be used at some distance as well but the use of the light would be based solely on how well it does it (So if it works great only at doing what I originally said that's fine, but something that will work long distances too would be nice). I've seen those little rechargable ones you shake - they're not very bright. I don't care if it's LED or a traditional bulb, but I know the LEDs are better on battery life and I would like whatever flashlight I get to have the best battery life considering it will sit in the car for a long time and be exposed to hot and cold temperatures (Inside a center console compartment). I currently have a 2 D cell Maglite and I'm very pleased with the brightness but it's far too large to store in the center console and even if I could fit it I imagine the batteries would die too quickly. A key point also, the cheaper the better. I know Surefire makes a very nice Defender LED light that's rated at 120 lumens but it's $150. The ideal price range would be $20 or less but I could possibly go a little more. I had considered one of those mini-Maglites with the 3 Watt Luxeon LED that take 3 AA batteries (Which is $20) but I would like to know if there are any other options that are good or better than that since most of what I know about flashlights is about Maglites.

I want to do some hardcore camping in the summer and am having trouble deciding if i want a large survival/ utility knife or a really good flashlight that i can also carry with me on a day to day basis. Daycare and Bus Concerns? I have a daycare provider who i truly adore, but she literally just moved into a new house on Sunday. We were aware of this move, but yesturday was the first day there and they had never been there before. She had stated before she moved that she was considering just letting them walk down the drive to catch the bus and I told her in that instant that i was not comfortable with this as it is probably 2-3 acres from her house and the bottom of the drive. Well, needless to say, when i got home yesturday, my daughter was upset because she gave my children (ages 9 and 10) a maglite and sent them down by themselves. There is no light at the end of the drive, it is lined with trees, it was obviously dark and they were scared. She instructed them to flash the light around if a car came so they could see them and not to fight. I was furious, one because i had already addressed my concern and second she sent them down there with a small flashlight and no supervision to wait. They live in the country and yes we live in a small town, but when i called to voice my concern, she stated everything happened so soon and she had not had time to access everything, and then asked what i thought she should do. I said personally, i see this as a safety concern as no one is down there with them. She said her husband could not be expected to take them down there and if he were not there, then she couldn't either because her son could not be left alone and my kids are mainly the only ones there. What do i do? are there rules that should be followed. Winter is coming and we live mid-western-northern. It gets bitterly cold. HELP!! It is her own child in question and he is usually asleep when we get there. They do have a vehicle that she could put them all in. I am not sure if she is wanting me take them out. I think she (and this is all speculation on my part) may want them to leave to avoid akwardness. They bought they house that I really wanted as they sold theirs first. How do you put batteries in the brand name 'American' flashlight? I feel stupid because I cant get it to work. it should be something simple, right? This is like a 30.00 one so its a pretty good chunk of money I'm not planning on wasting.
