Are Gerber knives and multi-tools still made in The United States? I think someone said they are made in china. That hurts a lot because I liked Gerber. Do they make some in the U.S. Still? If you know which ones can you tell me? Also are they still the same quality? Also I don't like the fact that some of Buck knives make some in China. Even though most are made in Idaho some of the ones that are $25 or less that are sold at walmart say made in China.

Knives - Buck Night hawk question....? I can't find anywhere a Buck Nighthawk knife with these specs: • Sure-grip • 6" - 61/2" Blade • Preferable all black handle. • Partially Serrated Edge. Does anyone know of a site where I can find that Buck Nighthawk knife. ***The blade length and a partially serrated edge are the main two most important aspects, I'm ok with not having the Sure-grip handle or black handle but that would certainly be a bonus. Thank you. (I would prefer a store in Canad if you can)

Is a buck knife considered a switchblade? My buck knife flips open, but only when you push it into an open position. There is no button that makes it fly open, but it can be opened by using enough force. I just want to make sure that it isn't illegal according to the California state code. Excuse me. "Using enough force when attempting to flip it open."*
What's your favorite brand of knives? (similar to Cold Steel?)? I LOVE Cold Steel folders, stuff like the Black Saber *drools*. But they're quite pricey! I was wondering if you know of anything comparable in style and close to the quality but for a way cheaper knife! (like in the price range more like Buck knives) THanks!
Buck knife adrenaline spx can't retract blade? I recently purchased a buck knife, it's the adrenaline spx model, with a blade that can fold into the handle. I pulled the blade out, but can't figure out how to retract it. I need help buying a buck knife...? Ok, so my boyfriend collects knives and guns...and I know nothing about either, but I plan on learning soon, at least a little bit. But I want to buy him a knife for Christmas. I do know that his favorite is a Buck knife, but that's so general, snce Buck is a brand name, not a type, right? I don't have the means to get a really expensive one, probably a $50 limit. Any one out there that can help me find a really good Buck knife? I don't want to just get him a knife, I want him to know I put thought into it. Help?

The Best way to clean "pocket knives".? Can someone find a more detailed way? Regarding "CASE" knives? Thank you "Knife Care Instructions" Stainless steel blades and other components minimize (but do not eliminate) the weathering effects of liquids and oxidation. Not all knives use stainless steel. Older knives, and some newer ones, use carbon steel that is more susceptible to effects of the elements and may need more frequent care. Knife performance and longevity are enhanced by regular care: Clean the entire knife regularly, including blade, pivot points and locking mechanism. If possible, clean it without immersing into liquid (spray cleaners work well). If you immerse in liquid (water, soapy water, or solvents), dry thoroughly after cleaning, then oil blade and moving parts. Regular cleaning and oiling should take care of sticky residue and light surface oxidation or beginning rust formation commonly found on knives. Discoloration of metal: Discolored metal has a blue/grey/black color, is a sign of oxidation, and precedes rust. On non-stainless steel: Discoloration is common and can provide a barrier against oxidation. Regular cleaning will keep discoloration from turning to rust. On stainless steel: Stainless steel does not discolor easily. Discoloration should be regarded as rust waiting to happen and should be cleaned immediately. - Rust: Rust has a reddish-brown color. Rust will eat pits into your blade and contaminate what you cut. Light rust can be cleaned with oil. Heavier rust needs to be cleaned with more abrasive action, such as cleaner, polish, or plastic cleaning pad. - Cleaning, polishing and lubricating help the performance, safety and longevity of your knife. Buck offers an assortment of knife care products. - Store your knife in a dry place (out of the sheath). Lightly wipe the blade with clean oil 2-3 times a year to keep rust from starting (more often if near water). "Cleaning" After using your knife, it is a good practice to clean and dry your knife (the entire knife, not just the blade). Even for blades that are made with corrosion-resistant stainless steel, prolonged exposure to the elements can cause the steel's surface to oxidize. Folding knives should be kept clean of debris, particularly the locking device on lock-blade knives. For your convenience, the Knife Center provides superb knife care products including Sentry Solutions products, White Lightning Clean Streak and several knife care kits. White Lightning Clean Streak is a completely residue-free metal prep that's easy to use. Just spray and wipe-no rinsing required. Metal Glo Premium Polishing Paste is a formulation of aluminum oxide that is perfect for cleaning and polishing many metal surfaces. As an alternative, chemical solvents such as Acetone, nail polish remover, MEK, alcohol or paint thinner may be used to clean your blade. Use care with these solvents, as some, such as acetone, nail polish remover, white gas, or brake fluid may damage some knife handles. Avoid harsh detergents that contain Chlorine (mostly powders, including some for washing dishes and clothes), which can accelerate corrosion of the blade steel. Avoid prolonged immersion in liquids (water, solvents, etc.). This can have a detrimental effect on not only the metal parts, but handles made of wood or other porous materials as well. Before using your knife on food items, wipe clean with alcohol, or wash with hot soapy water and rinse clean. Remember to re-clean and lubricate your knife after the food job is done. "Lubricating" Periodically, and always after cleaning, apply a small amount of lubricant to the working parts of the knife, particularly the pivot points of a folding knife. Then apply a thin film of lubricant to the entire surface of the blade. This will help prevent surface oxidation and corrosion from moisture.
I need help deciding between two knives to buy.? I am stuck between a Gerber LMF II, and a Buck Nighthawk. Can you help me decide which knife will be the better buy, depending on how well it holds an edge, it's general reliability, and the cost difference?

What's the proper way to clean a hunting knife? I have a Buck knife that I use for hunting, it's a lock back. There's dried blood and dirt on the inside where I can't reach. How do I clean it, and overall restore the knife's look? It's two ends are gold color and look stained and have fingerprints on them. I just need to know how to clean it so I can use it again.
Buck Strider Fixed Blade? I am a soldier in need of a new survival/combat knife and am looking at getting the Buck Strider ML or FB fixed blade. I cant decide between the two. The ML looks more functional but the tip looks weak because of the false blade on the tip. The FB should be stronger but the shape of the blade looks like it is more for looks than actually cutting, slicing or chopping. I cant seem to find any reviews on these knives but the reviews on Buck's other large fixed blade the "nighthawk" have been great all around. I am very confident with Buck Knives but dont want to dish out the cash and not be happy. Does anyone have experience with these knives or own one? I am very curious about how the tip on the ML is shaped and how it holds up to abuse. I would also like to know how the cutting ability of the FB is with that weird blade shape. Thank you in advance for all your help.

What kind of knife do you carry? When I was still in single digit age I had a small buck knife (2" blade) I got from my uncle. I kept that until a couple years back I moved up to a cold steel voyager. Half serrated, half plain. It's 4" long blade. I do have larger folders but I think 4" is the legal length limit in AZ you can carry on you. Oh, plus a rusty roofing nail.

What are the knife laws in Sydney? Im moving to sydney soon from colorado. I always carry a buck knife on me at all times. Ive been doing it for like 8 or 9 years so its just a habit and I guess its just as important to me as my keys or my cellphone or my wallet. And NO I have no intentions of harming others with it although Ive used it for self defense a few times. So I just wanted to know if I can carry the knife (folding blade with pocket clip, blade length is approx. 3.25 inches, 5 inches when folded) with me or if Im gonna get arrested or something. AND if anyone knows a website where I can look up all the laws in Sydney could you please post it on your sources. Thanks Im sorry the knife is 3.375 inches (8.5 cm). Is Sydney a dangerous place to live in? Im moving to Sydney soon and I posted a question about the availability of Buck knives over there and I got 2 answers and they both were "concerned" about "what I was going to cut with the knives". Check my profile to check out the question...

MTech knives. Are they any good? I usually stick to knives I know are good quality (Colt, S&W, Buck, etc.) but am curious to know if MTech knives are any good at all. My neighbor wants to sell me a 14' MTech black bowie tactical/hunting knife for $15. It looks and feels good in my hand but I want to hear from people who've owned them first. Any good?
How many people here would walk into a terrorist camp? and proclaim the gospel of jesus christ? !!!!Knowing that it might be possible that they would wrestle you to the ground and take out a buck knife and start cutting your neck if you did not join islam and deny Jesus christ
Kershaw assisted opening knives (SpeedSafe) not legal Federally? OK, so I was visiting the St. Louis Arch a couple of days ago. A sign posted right outside the security xray/metal detector said that knives that were unlawful by Federal law would not be permitted. On the list was "Kershaw assisted opening knives." These would be the 'speedsafe' variety, like the Ken Onion Chive, Leek, etc. I didn't have it with me that day, but I own a Chive. (They're under 3 inches blade - more a pocketknife than a Buck folder.) Anyway, I can understand why they wouldn't want knives in the Memorial. (Even though it looked like a 2 inch regular penknife would be fine.) But can anyone point to where the Kershaw torsion bar blades have somehow been outlawed Federally? Kershaw used to make the point that they were PERFECTLY legal to own (i.e. not a switchblade, not a pushbutton stiletto, etc.) Thanks for taking the time to look! I appreciate the answers. It will be a hard best answer choice. The consensus so far is that it's perfectly legal by Federal law. I rechecked Kershaw's website, and it still says in the FAQs that SpeedSafe is perfectly legal. Clarifying my question: I am SURE that I read the sign correctly, and that it stated that SpeedSafes are NOT LEGAL to carry into the property. (It was listed with Butterfly knives, Gravity knives, Switchblades, and other knife types. And I know switchblades aren't legal.) I do know a property owner can prohibit whatever he or she wants. If a 7-11 doesn't want you to carry a box cutter into their store, they can deny admittance / ask you to leave / deny you service. But it would surprise me if the same principle applies on Federal property - I'dve thought they need SOME justification in law to post such a notice. And, at any rate, the notice said such are illegal. So does anyone know what law would allow them to say that regarding SpeedSafes?
how can i prevent my pocket knife from rusting? so i bout this knife at wal-mart for like 20 bucks and it's got a couple of rust spots and i'd return it, but i really like it. so, how can i remove the rust spots and stop it from rusting?
