Is the SOG Pentagon Elite II such a bad knife? What about it vs an Emerson? I had one that dented at the tip. When shown to one of my friends spent so much time bashing the "cheap" metal used, and locking mechanism, he then told me to buy emerson. So are SOG knives really that bad? I know that the knife is made with VG-10 metal, which is usually used in high grade kitchen cutlery. Would it be too delicate for a folding knife? Low-profile folder knives? Looking for a good low-profile folder. Good for tactical (self-defense) and/or utility. Plain edge only, no preference on steel. As close to 3.5 inches as possible, but nothing over 3.5 inches, due to local laws. I have found, that interest me: Spyderco Caly3 Carbon Fiber (perfect deep pocket wire clip) Al Mar Mini Sere (Regular Sere is barely too long, 3.6 inches) SOG: Aegis (Perfect 3.5inches, but quality?) Surefire Delta (Looks like the best of all, but wow it's expensive...) What do you think would be the best out of those and are there any other good ones? Most importantly, I want the deep pocket clip... They are more comfortable and low-profile. OR, I guess a fixed blade would work well too as long as it's low-profile and comfortable... I basically want to forget I even have it.

knife laws in california little help please? so im 17 and i recently recieved a brand new SOG spring assisted knife. i reside i california. im curious to know if a police officer approched me would it be legal for me to carry this item? ive looked around on the web and saw something about spring assisted knives being legal, but i want someone who understands the law to explain it in plain english. thanks much. and i just read that link this guy posted. a switchblade has a buton. spring loaded knives use one hand to manually push open a knife 1/4 of the way and a spring takes over. so i think i am within the law. also the 2 inches is soley applied to the switchblade knife, not the one i have.

What are some good knife brands? My old knife that i got when i was 10 is finally too small for me, so i have decided that i want to get me a new knife, and i was wondering what are some good knife brands (and models if you would kindly include in your post). First off, i don't want a big bowie knife, or other fixed-blade knife, i want to get a folding pocket knife. I would prefer to get one with both the regular blade, and half serrated, and though, not necessary, one with one of those seat belt cutter notch. I also do not want to spend a small fortune on a knife, so i would only consider buying a knife prices $150 or less (less is always better unless reliability is compromised). For my last paragraph, i would like to say that i've looked at gerber knifes, and they all look awful (i would like a knife that looks good), so gerber is out of the picture. I also looked at crkt (?), and although they don't look as bad as gerber, i don't like their angled blade tip, i would highly prefer a curved blade tip (i hope you know what i mean). And finally, i found this one tpye of knife, the sog trident folder that meets all my requirements, and i was wondering if this type of knife (or SOG in whole) is good. Thanks for any contribution.

What is your favourite MODEL of multi-tool? I've been on all of the websites (Leatherman, SOG, Schrade, Gerber,....) and looked at them all. I own 3 Leatherman Wave 2's and they are poorly made, not ergonomic, and rust too easy. My favourite was the "original" Leatherman Supertool (I didn't like that it took 2 hands to open the knife). Using a Fixed blade knife or Dagger in High School? Im a freshmen in highschool and me and my friends bring knives to school. Ka Bar, SOG, Emerson, Boker, fixed blade daggers and karambits. People are concerned and i don't know why and we know how to hide weapons so we can't get in trouble. I bring a Ka Bar Foliage Green knife with an Emerson Folding Karambit to school with me each day. I've been to Sayoc Kali seminars so I know how to use these knives too. My real question is, what's wrong with bringing knives to school? People seem to not like to talk to me or they avoid me. I handle a lot of my issues with my fists. The Military martial arts that my dad taught me along with Krav Maga really helps me out. Now i'm known as some bad person i don't know why. I've never pulled knives on people, but i do show them to get people to cooperate with my demands such as leaving an area, or if they're doing something i believe is wrong.

Best "Beater" Folding Knife? I'm down to a couple manufacturers (cold steel, ka bar, SOG). I feel like those manufacturers make tough knives. I'm open to suggestions. I'm going to be camping and hunting with this knife. I'll cut a variety of materials including some wood with it. Who knows how often it will get dropped and onto what. I'm looking for something that's built strong, have a blade out of the box/keep it, and sharpen well when necessary. I have recently purchased a kabar/dozier foldinghunter for $25 and it's a steal for the money. I'm looking for a bigger blade 4-6". I was considering CS recon 1, SOG trident, or kabar mule. They are all around the 70 dollar mark. I like the rugged design. I'm looking under 100 dollars, preferably under 70. If you know of a knife that's cheaper than that, fits my criteria, and has handled everyday use well..feel free to suggest. I would prefer a cheaper option. I think everyone would. Than I've seen the 110/112 come up a few times and people say they've used it for years. Which, to me blatantly implies durability. I'm not a big fan of the wood veneer. I prefer a synthetic/tactical look. That's just me. Not to say anything against the knife, I've never owned one. I was considering getting one for my dad on his birthday though. I've been doing some research on my own in the meantime. I'm gonna post some of my findings and anyone/everyone can feel free to chime in... So, anyone that's had experience with a sturdy folder from any of these companies (or others, Gerber, Boker, etc), feel free to post some info on your findings, preferences, or just what you think overall about a good folder. Where can I get a quality knife? I am not a hunter or fisher, but I was wondering where I could get a nice knife. There used to be a gander mtn near by but they closed that one down so them and I think its pro bass shops or something are out of the question. I hear companies like benchmade, SOG and spyderco are good and some others out there I hear about. Since I don't have a credit or debit card I couldn't order it online and would rather not do so.
