Cold Steel Knives in Colorado Springs? I am looking to buy a 4" Ti-lite with zytel handle or possibly an aluminum handled one if I can afford it. I want to pay $30-50 on the knife and some places on line have them that cheap but charge shipping. Does anyone know where I can get this knife for relatively cheap? thanks Also not sure this is the right category please tell me if there is a better one. Thanks Note: I am looking for stores in Colorado Springs not websites
What's your favorite brand of knives? (similar to Cold Steel?)? I LOVE Cold Steel folders, stuff like the Black Saber *drools*. But they're quite pricey! I was wondering if you know of anything comparable in style and close to the quality but for a way cheaper knife! (like in the price range more like Buck knives) THanks!
What is a better knife Cold Steel VS SOG? I want to get one of these knives but I am having trouble deciding which is the best overall knife?? Thanks SOG Trident tiger SOG Vulcan Tanto SOG Bi-Polar (Serrated) Cold Steel Scimitar Cold Steel Recon 1
Any experience with a Cold Steel tanto? I'm curious to learn about either of two knives by Cold Steel - the GI Tanto (1055 carbon steel blade) and the Recon Tanto (AUS 8A stainless steel blade). I have no experience with Cold Steel knives, and wonder about the field applications of a tanto as a hunting knife. I'm interested in your comments. Thanks.
Which is the better knife from cold steel? I'm in the market for a solid camp/hunting knife and I've narrowed my choices down to two knives from cold steel. The Recon 1 tanto partially serrated folding knife. or the partially serrated tanto gunsite knife. I've been reading reviews and watching their official videos and I can't decide which is better for long term hard use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is the magnum kukri a good machete... because i like a machete that is light enough to clear like small trees and weeds...etc... but heavy enoug to do some chopping... i know the gurkha is the greatest chopping tool ever made... but im not looking for that kind of knife... the standard machete you can buy is so thing you cand chop even the smallaest tree.. so is the magnum kukri good... abd is the bushman good...?? if any one could give me a review of both knives...
Can the cold steel tanto knife be carried in California? http://www.coldsteel.com/spikeseries.html I currently own the tanto version in the series and was wondering if it is legal to carry in California. If not what are the penalties someone could expect for carrying one of these?
Has anyone ever used a Cold Steel Grivory knife? They seem interesting, but can they actually cut? If so, how well can they cut/pierce, and how sturdy are they? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. I have purchased several of their products before and loved them, but I have never used a "plastic knife" before.
who here has a cold steel knife? and what do you say about them? are they good knives? im talking mostly about the Cold Steel Voyager Tanto Point Plain Knife with a 5" blade
cold steel knife help? recently someone told me about a cold steel knife like a swiss army knife but everything is a blade in it what is the name of this knife
Opinions of the Cold Steel Magnum Tanto? I'm thinking of purchasing a Cold Steel Magnum Tanto IX (9" blade, 14 5/8" overall) and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the knife. Is it good or bad? Does it hold a point and an edge as well as their over the top promotional videos make out? Just how sharp is it, razor sharp? Have you had any experience with rusting, discolouring, chipping, cracking or rotting with the blade or handle? Also, is the leather sheath of good quality. Does anybody have a preference on blade size and why?. I was thinking of getting the IX because it is the only size I can get a hold of at a reasonable price. I should probably add that I intend to purchase this knife as more of a collectible than a tool, although I will probably occasionally use it. Thank you to all responses, I heard Cold Steel knives are of very high quality but I'm asking just to make sure.
EDC Knife (Cold Steel 4 inch Zytel "Ti-Lite")? I want an EDC (Every Day Carry) Knife that: ~folds ~is non-serrated ~has a pocket clip ~has a blade length of about 4 in. long ~is concealable ~urban environment friendly ~priced around $50 What do you suggest? I am currently thinking on purchasing the Cold Steel 4 inch Zytel Ti-Lite.
Is a cold steel black rock hunter knife legal too carry in CA? i bought a cold steel black rock hunter the other day it i was wondering if its legal to carry in CA here is the knife http://www.coldsteel.com/blackrockhunter.html is this considered a switchblade? it has springs that put pressure so you have to open it with 2 hands and it cannot be flung open like a traditional butterfly knife
Stainless steel Kershaw knives...Please help? Okay so I've got this really great knife that has been a huge help to me ever since I bought it about 4 months ago. It's a Kershaw Tactical Blur model 1670TBLKST and has a black coating on it. It's a very dependable and light weight knife but here's the thing, I want the same knife only stainless cold steel with no coating. In the 4 month period that I've had it, it's been scratched a little. Does anyone know of a stainless steel non coated blade or a method of cleaning scratches off these types of blades?
Quality of Cold Steel Recon 1 (folding knife)? I would like to buy a new cold steel recon 1 folding knife. My concern is the knife is made in Taiwan, will the quality of blade/overall make is lower quality compare with those made in US/JAPAN? The plan is use as an EDC, any good suggestion with similar style? Most important to me is reliability, 2)sharpness, 3) maintance than 4)cost. Anyone can point me into right direction? Please share, Thanks in advance.
Cold steel against a bear attack? I am walking on a trail and mommy bear thinks I'm after her cubs when I'm not. I got a .45 ACP but I hear that that has limited effectiveness for a bear. Should I blast the bear then if it keeps coming pull out my tempered steel bowie knife instead? I work out a lot so there will be a lot of driving force behind that giant steel blade.
Is VG-1 Stainless Steel any good in a folding knife? I've been looking for lots of info on this steel. Cold Steel uses it now in their knives replacing the AUS-8 steel. I was hoping somebody had a knife with this steel who could give me some real first hand knowledge not just numbers. Thanks!
which is a better everyday use knife to have, the cold steel pro lite, or the cold steel recon 1? I'm going to buy a new everyday use knife, and i really like both of those knives. The pro lite was discontinued for some reason and are now very hard to find, but i have one available to me. They are good strong knives and open easily one handed. The recon 1 knives i like alot also because of their ultra lock, their color, and the overall strength of the knife. If you have any recomondations please post them. thank you. Cold steel spartan legal to carry? Im 20 years old and live in California. I'm looking at buy a folding knife with a 4.5 inch blade. What is the CA maximum for blade length for folding knives?
Hunting knives...What steel do you like best and why? I have had a couple Damascus steels, a couple 440C SS, and lately, purchased one with AUS 8 steel and one with San Mai III steel. I like the last 2 the best since they sharpen well and hold an edge very well, but is all the 'carbon' hype or whatever the new alloy name is, really worth the big bucks? My Cold Steel Hatamoto was almost $300 and just curious if the steel is worth all of that ching. Thanks everyone! Lock and load. Keep your powder dry. -Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is the muzzle flash- -Brew Nitro...gotcha. Here are some more details... Mostly hunting/mid to large game=skinning, steaking. I don't have much use for my hunting knives other than that. My pocket knife is a little more versitile, but I'm not using it for a screwdriver and take very good care of them. Thanks! -hope this helps more. Awesome Mr Gregg Andrews! Very much appreciated! -Any words on that San Mai III? Thanks!
throwing knives question? I am just getting into the hobby of throwing knives. I have a couple cold steel throwing knives and just got the sure strike throwing stars. I know I should not practice inside the house and I am afraid to practice on my property so where would be a good place where I could legally throw the knives? Also is throwing knives outside of my property illegal?

Cold Steel or another company for quality kukri? I would like to buy my dad a good, solid, combat (as apposed to survival machete) Kukri. He's a weapons guy and if he was open to a knew big knife to stick on the wall. Since he has a bowie, a Kukri would suit him well. Heard reviews from both sides of the fence on Cold Steel's specialty combat weapons. Either they break too easily and can't hold ad edge or are very good; depending on who I ask. Would their high carbon/combat kukri be a good choice or should I seek a different specific company? I'm looking to spend around 300-500 dollars, mass produced (from Nepal?) is fine as long as it is good quality. Wouldn't mind it cheaper, but the old saying "you get what you pay for" probably comes in to play. I know the ones the Nepalese military use are "heavy" and have a thick spine. Sorry if I am spelling "Kukri" wrong. It is how they spell it on Cold Steel's website.
How to I stop a knife blade from rusting? I have recently invested money in a Cold Steel AK-47 knife. However, the AUS-8 blade steel that it comes in is not stainless, and thus will rust. I want to know if I can do anything to prevent the rust on it. Also, I've heard that you can add a rust "patina" onto a blade, which makes it so that the blade is already rusted but can still be sharpened, so you don't have to worry about it. Can I do that with AUS-8 steel?
Does the Cold Steel Recon 1 have a quick deployment like the AK 47 knife? The kind of Recon 1 that i want is the tanto point 1/2 serr. Does anyone have either one of the Recon 1 or AK 47? The kind of Recon 1 that i want is the tanto point 1/2 serr. Does anyone have either one of the Recon 1 or AK 47? And when I ask about the quick deployment I mean like the AK 47 has a feather that while cliped in side of your pants pocket if you pull the knife out the blade will pop open. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1044859637431
Why does a steel butter knife break in half? One day I accidentally dropped a stainless steel buttered knife on the tile floor. To my amazement the knife split cleanly in half. It was a perfectly normal knife and I always thought that steel was pretty strong. Was this a defected knife. Or were there other elements that could add to it breaking. It was a cold day when it happened would that have anything to do with?
Which is the best brand of knives? I have a gerber paraphrame, A buck mantis, A Columbia River Hissatsu, a boker magnum piranha, and a trail knife. Spyderco Native or Cold Steel Ti-Lite? I Know I Repeatedly Compare Knives to the Ti-Lite on Yahoo Answers, But I Am Making my Purchase Next Week and I Need to Know! Which Knife is Better, Overall. A Good Carry- Around Knife
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME CHOOSE THE BEST KNIFE STEEL? I'm looking into buying a new edc knife and i'm into the kershaw blur, kershaw junkyard dog 2, sog aegis and the cold steel recon 1. Only problem is that i don't know which blade Is the sharpest and which blade will hold an edge better. I have been informed that the kershaw blades are made of; 13c26 sandvik steel and that the sog uses Aus 8 steel. I also believe the cold steel recon uses Aus 8A steel which is stronger. Can someone educate me a little more on the steel and which blade they would personally choose as their edc knife? Thanks I really appreciate it :)
What do you call the edge design on these leaf-shaped blades? The knives are the Cold Steel Canadian Belt Knife, the Gerber Truss 2.0, the Spyderco Manix 2, and the Buck Transport. Some of them have double-beveled grinds but the way the edge goes up to the spine and not to the point. Is there a term for that or is it just an artistic thing?
legal to carry knives in Florida? i was wondering are these legal in Florida without a CCW? Cold steel ti-lite ? Cold steel rajah? push daggers? balisongs (butterfly knife)? miss g thanks for the answer but i read the laws already they are worded so vague they dont offer any real clarification. there no set blade length or styles that are illegal. they word this thing to make so the cops can say anything is illegal when it suits there motive. its ridiculous.
What is the best knife for under $50? I have been searching around for a good utility/camping knife. I favor folding knives, but fixed knives are ok. Otherwise i have heard Cold Steel makes good knives and i can find them for like $60. Also I have heard that Spyderco makes good knives. Please tell me which knife is the best for under $50? I don't care what brand it is.
Help me pick a good, concealable knife for self defense? I have a concealed carry weapons license. In my state, I can legally carry a concealed blade. I need help finding a good quality knife that will be easy to conceal. I'm more opt to a fixed blade, but I won't rule out a folding knife or switchblade. For knife choices, I'm thinking about the Special Operations Group Mini-Pentagon. http://sogknives.com/store/M14.html I've also considered buying a Cold Steel knife. I'm a novice with knives, so please recommend a good quality knife that won't let me down.
Does anyone know of a tiny blade like Cold Steel Super Edge but sharper and better? I'm looking for something that I can keep on me in my pocket, sock etc that is supper light, supper strong and supper sharp. A knife that I don't know I have on me until the time I need to use it. Thanks everyone I'm looking for something that I can keep on me in my pocket, sock etc that is supper light, supper strong and supper sharp. A knife that I don't know I have on me until the time I need to use it. Thanks everyone EDITED... After the first two answers I received I'd like to make it clear that I do not intend to kill or harm anyone. I'm just traveling to a country that is in a state of unrest and I want to be prepared.
a poem about rape. it goes in to some detail so if you are reall young, DON'T READ!? NO I WAS NEVER RAPED! i know some of you most likely have read or seen or heard things about it. i got some insperation from watching "special victims unit" and i read a book where this happened to a little girl. title-the shadow of his hand The shadow of his hand Hovers over my path It's impossible to avoid it I'm a victim of his wrath Every mark he's made on me On my body and deep inside Are reasons on top of reasons For why I envied those who died I wasn't the first and I won't be the last His terror will reign free For I, like others, am not brave enough To make known what he did to me He waited in the darkness Of my home, safe in my bed And the moment I came into the room He hit me over the head It must have been a long time Before I finally came to And the sight that met my eyes then Would last forever, that, I knew I struggled to avoid the blade He was pulling from his pocket But my hands and legs were tied tightly And when I strained I hurt the sockets His smiling face was closer now There was nothing I could do His foul, disgusting breath reached my face As he sliced my belt in two By now I knew what would come next But I my head wouldn't let me believe That he could do such a horrid thing That he wouldn't just leave Tossing away the belt, he returned And started zipping down my fly And to my greatest horrors He gave a satisfied sigh My three older sisters Had fallen to him like this The first two had died and the third left home Away from his want of sexual bliss I had heard tell of it happening And how the terrors grew But I never accepted a word of it That these stories could have been true I was still a virgin But that was soon to change As he pulled my jeans completely off I began feeling awfully strange A cool breeze touched my skin As he rolled up my top And cut it across the centre He didn?t intend to stop My skin began to prickle Wearing just my underwear Without any possible escape And a torturer who didn?t care His cold steel knife ran over my chest As he slid it under my bra And in one flick, broke the strap Revealing my breasts to the stars But he wasn't finished yet, oh no The bad stuff had just begun As he patiently moved below my waist I could see he was having fun He enjoyed every wriggle And every squirm he got from me And he guided his little pocketknife As I lay there helplessly Inch by inch towards my hip Gliding across my skin He was quick to strip my undies Revealing the secrets within So I began to save my strength As I lay there motionless Vulnerable, but I couldn't do much He was going to make me a mess It wasn't long before I saw That my suspicions had been right He now returned to where I could see Standing exposed in the night He began to climb onto the bed Placing one leg on either side of me He lowered his body onto mine And began to caress gently But then all at once he entered And I felt a terrible pain One that lasted the whole time That I wish never to feel again I thrashed about, but he held me fixed Overpowering was his will He touched me all over my body Until I was almost physically ill Then I saw two watching eyes And I screamed out desperately Mommy, can't you do something To get Daddy off of me!? comments? concerns? criticism? i'm 13 and this never happened to me!
Do i need a knife with a gut hook? I am new hunter. I have ben a sport shooter for years and i want to get some real game in my sights. my fav knife company are cold steel kershaw and frost, i am just wondering how usefull i a knife with gut hook on big game? there handy with fish but what about deer and elk?
live in ca looking for a good pocket knife? i want one around 4" at least of blade length. and i want it to be combat worthy, not used for utility reasons. it would be used to defend my life if that was the situation. what would you recommend? i'm considering Cold Steel 25S Scimitar Folding Knife is it any good? (note it has to be folding with a locking blade) possibly used for self defense against other people
Tonsillectomy at 21? I believe I'm getting the traditional cold knife (steel) dissection. I heard there is not as much pain post-op with this with the electrocautery as but more than coblation. From anyone else who has had this procedure using this method, tell me your experience. How much did it cost? Also, I have small tonsils and my doctor is pretty experienced. I'm hoping this will help? I'm starting to worry...
What is the best fixed blade survival knife in your opinion? Regardless of price what is the best fixed blade survival knife for general purpose woodland survival? Kabar, Kershaw, Benchmade, Gerber, Cold Steel, Ontario, Fallkniven, SOG, Busse...etc? What make and model in your opinion? I want a full tang design. Please don't tell me a Rambo knife with compass and a hollow handle for holding fishing line and hooks. lol.
How can I tell if a knife is a switch blade or folding knife? Here's a knife I'm looking at buying: http://bladefinder.com/products/cold-steel-ak-47-aluminum-handle However, switch blades (where you press a button and the blade springs out) are illegal, so I'm hoping it is just a manual folding knife. How can I tell from the picture which type it is? Looks like there might be a button on it, but I'm not sure.
What is the best outdoors knife brand? Hi everyone, i am looking to buy a fixed blade outdoors knife, and i wanted to know what the best brands are to look for. My friends have told me to go with either SOG or Cold Steel. Please include what features are best in looking for a knife, and also which brand provides the sharpest blades. Thank you.
What are the best pocket/utility knives? I know of the big companies; cold steel, spyderco, benchmade, kershaw, gerber. Are there any other quality knife makers that I am forgetting? What companies in your opinions make the best overall practical, camping and heavy duty knives? Best bang for your buck? Cheapest but well made? Best service and warranty? The blade will hold up to constant use and/or is easy to sharpen or the company will do it for you free/cheap? I have two kershaws and I like them. Cheap and reliable and I have not yet to have any problems with them. One is a Ken Onion chive (great little pocket knife). I am looking for something along the lines of a legal pocket knife in california ( I believe the blade has to be under 2 3/4") and something no bigger than say a six inch blade. Folding or not.
What do you think of this poem? Thoughts silent as the silver moon, my precious heart beats for you, shall you ever hear me cry, i might just have to tell a lie, why oh why? dark and cold as the steel knife, for as long as i keep this inside, my wrists bleed, and so i hide, why oh why? black and threatening, yet an escape, dare i go, thoughts so cold and unknown, like a deadly winters snow, why oh why? and so still i cry.
How to deal with my phobia? I was sharpening my knife the other day and cut myself pretty bad. It still hurts and its been 5 days. I ordered a cold steel kukri last week and now I am afraid to use it. I was a big fan of swords and such but now I feel like I can't stand the sight of knives. How can I get through this and feel easy using my knives again? I was careful I have been sharpening knives for over 2 years. This phobia just sorta hit me.
What kind of knife do you carry? When I was still in single digit age I had a small buck knife (2" blade) I got from my uncle. I kept that until a couple years back I moved up to a cold steel voyager. Half serrated, half plain. It's 4" long blade. I do have larger folders but I think 4" is the legal length limit in AZ you can carry on you. Oh, plus a rusty roofing nail.
Looking for a good survival / hiking knife? So far I've got three in mind but none of them have really sold me yet. In no particular order: 1: KA-BAR Fighting Knife (straight edge) 2: Cold Steel SRK 3: Gerber LMF 2 The ka-bar knife looks to be really sturdy and is time tested, but with a 7'' blade, it's kind of big not to mention bulky. The SRK is almost indestructible (so I hear), but it too, is also a bit too big. The LMF 2 would really be a dream choice if it weren’t for the partially serrated edge. And at just under a blade length of 5'', the size is just right. Are there any other knives that came close. Preferred specs: 1: Blade length around 5'' 2: Reasonably compact 3: Straight edge 4: Sturdy 5: Sharp (really shouldn’t have to mention this but whatever) 6: Less then $80 P.S. Does anyone know of a good reason for having a half serrated blade? I think it was built into the LMF 2 to cut thin metal, but I would think that would damage the blade. Not to mention it's a sharpening nightmare. Btw, I'm only looking for a fixed blade, not a folder. Something to complement my Leatherman Wave.
Question for home brewers: what is the best way to wash recycled bottles? I use recycled beer bottles (still with label and part of the alu foil seal) and immerse them overnight in cold water. The next morning I add hot water, wait an hour or so and then go to work: scrap off the stubborn labels and the tin foil with a knife, rub them down with steel wool and finally ‘polish’ them with a regular household detergent. Any tips on how this work can be done in a more efficient way; what attacks/dissolves the glue under the foil coated labels? Thanks for any tips! not an option for me, I don't want my rice wine labelled as 'Tiger Beer' or 'Carlsberg'...
Gravity knife in pennyslvania? I want to know if it is legal to POSSESS in pennslyvania. not carry. i dont give a shit about carrying or concealment issues. POSSESION. That means in my house. The blade length is 4.5 inches. Its a cold steel triple action. And if i order it will i be arrested by a customs officer?
Japanese Chef's knives: Shun, or Global? I've read up on a lot of Japanese knives (yes, I am familiar with Wüsthof and Henckels and own both, but I want Japanese knives now), and there are many great choices, like Mac and Kasumi, among others. I've narrowed my choices down to 2: Shun and Global. Everyone goes ga-ga over Shuns: They're exceptionally beautiful, are made with Damascus-style steel, they have a D-shaped handle girth, and owners of them love them dearly and phrases like "you'd have to pry it out of my cold, dead fingers" come up. They tend to need more sharpening and care than Globals, which are used a lot more professionally, have a straight edge, are made with a special CROMOVA 18 steel as one piece including the hollow handle (filled with sand) and can weather abuse very well. One's a stellar conversation piece, and the other's a more worker-friendly knife. Eric has agreed to buy me a knife set for Christmas, and these are the two Japanese knives I am most interested in. Unfortunately, I don't know where in Orlando I can waltz into a store and try both to compare them, so if you either have any experience with Japanese cutlery and any preference, or you know of a serious cutlery shop in town here in Orlando that would have floor models to try, please let me know. I am a Restaurant & Food Service Management major, so I may be using some of these in my food prep labs, too.
Making kydex camouflage? Ok, so the question maybe isn't military in nature, but I don't know where else to post it.... and maybe someone here has some experience I have a knife that came with a black kydex sheath, and I'm wondering if there's someway to make the sheath match my ACU's. The blade has a very unique shape that really wouldn't fit anything "universal" (the knife is a Desperado, from Cold Steel, if you know it...) I'm thinking of something I saw a while ago, made for rifle stocks, where they dip the stock in a tub, with a camo film on the surface. As the film wrapped around the stock it would be permanently bonded. Is that something thats only done from the factory, or is it something they sell as a DIY kit? Is there some other way color it? I'm almost thinking about just cutting a piece of ACU fabric and wrapping it.... but hopefully there's a better way
Best "Beater" Folding Knife? I'm down to a couple manufacturers (cold steel, ka bar, SOG). I feel like those manufacturers make tough knives. I'm open to suggestions. I'm going to be camping and hunting with this knife. I'll cut a variety of materials including some wood with it. Who knows how often it will get dropped and onto what. I'm looking for something that's built strong, have a blade out of the box/keep it, and sharpen well when necessary. I have recently purchased a kabar/dozier foldinghunter for $25 and it's a steal for the money. I'm looking for a bigger blade 4-6". I was considering CS recon 1, SOG trident, or kabar mule. They are all around the 70 dollar mark. I like the rugged design. I'm looking under 100 dollars, preferably under 70. If you know of a knife that's cheaper than that, fits my criteria, and has handled everyday use well..feel free to suggest. I would prefer a cheaper option. I think everyone would. Than I've seen the 110/112 come up a few times and people say they've used it for years. Which, to me blatantly implies durability. I'm not a big fan of the wood veneer. I prefer a synthetic/tactical look. That's just me. Not to say anything against the knife, I've never owned one. I was considering getting one for my dad on his birthday though. I've been doing some research on my own in the meantime. I'm gonna post some of my findings and anyone/everyone can feel free to chime in... Ka Bar Dozier Folding Hunter BM Griptilian Kershaw Junk Yard Dog II Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara (.and actually all of the spydercos are good) Ka Bar Mule Cold Steel Voyager/Ultimate Hunter This is just my findings when looking for a nice sturdy knife that can take a beating and keep on truckin'.. This certainly isn't all of them and I'm sure there's some big ones that i've left out (like the buck 110 that's been mentioned). So, anyone that's had experience with a sturdy folder from any of these companies (or others, Gerber, Boker, etc), feel free to post some info on your findings, preferences, or just what you think overall about a good folder. Really, this is about information helping me to decide on which one to get. I'll probably end up with a few in the end, but I need a good place to start. Thanks everyone.
will call of duty:world at war play like COD 4? im not the biggest first person shooter fan but i pretty much fell in love with COD 4. with the zoom on the guns and red dot. flash bang granades are sweet but most of all knifing. nothing is better than giving a buddy a little tast of cold steel. tell me im not going to loose all these things in World at War that i have grown to love.
College Admissions Essay Anyone? Tell me what you think!? My name is Elizabeth Hissim and when I look into the mirror I see myself, but I don’t. The person I face is disfigured. She has visible scars on her neck, hands, and underneath deep sunken eyes, not from misadventures of childhood but the cold steel cut of a surgeon’s knife, she has unnaturally small unformed ears hidden under honey blond hair, she is someone I don’t really know, someone who has faced trials that I find difficult to remember, someone I respect and someone I dread. I have never understood how people, my family and my friends deal with it so well. Sometimes I’ll catch myself in a mirror at an angle that makes my whole self constrict, and I always wonder how people deal with me, the opposite of perfection that all of mankind revere, someone who has always looked wrong in a photograph. I will most likely never understand it fully, but for the most part I treat it as separate part of me that has no affect on who I am personally, and yet people seem to treat the way I look, and the way I am as the same. It seems as if in having Treacher Collins Syndrome, I seem to affect how other people see me in more serious ways than my personality ever could. Adults would tell my parents that they respected me for living each day as if it were a trial for me, like I was child with leukemia battling each day to live and get rid of the harm that ravaged their bodies. In truth it is nothing like that, I have had this syndrome my whole life and therefore I simply live each day, but more so I do not have a mirror in front of my face at all times, and I only know my personality. I have had many horrific trials in the past due to me having Treacher Collins, but at seventeen I hardly remember any of them. When I do they are like they happened to someone else, recalling them is like remembering a movie I saw a long time ago, I remember the screaming, the nasty hospital food, and the star wars legos my sisters would give me after a surgery, but I do not recall any of the feelings. I have forgotten the pain itself, though I can recall that it was so intense it felt as if I were hearing someone else screaming, that I could not feel the tears I no doubt shed until I would pass out. Recalling my worst moment, I remember waking up to nothing; without my hearing aid I could not hear, my sense of smell had always been obsolete, and to my absolute horror my eyes had been swelled shut. Taste and touch had numbed and all I felt was an enhancing fear and a searing pain spread throughout my body, thundering in my head, enveloping me like the unfamiliar darkness that swallowed me whole. I was eight years old. At seventeen I scream and curse when I get paper cut like everyone else, and sometimes I wish I wouldn’t, I wish that the things, the pain I’ve gone through would keep me from acting so trivially, that I would act as strong as people tell me I am. Because I do not remember things, I’ve always been interested in what my family remembers during times that happened in my youth, and most of the time I find myself respecting who I was as I child and wishing I had remained so. I have been told about the surgeries I have had starting five days after my birth, and the experiences that I have never recalled. To hear about me at eight going into a coma, or at ten, when I had thrown up blood, hearing what I went through during time lapses when I had passed out scares me but interests me at the same if only because I survived them. When I was four years old my parents wrote articles for a “newspaper” that talked about cranial facial conditions. Reading them now brings a maelstrom of mixed emotions, and reminds me of why I act the way I do, and there are many ways that Treacher Collins had influenced the way I am. In my mother’s article she talked about technical things, an emergency tracheotomy at seven weeks old, and how I had therapy to teach me just how to move toys, vocalize, and move my arms and legs. Reading and hearing about such things is difficult, it is hard for me to accept that I needed help doing the simplest of things, the most normal occurrences in life like breathing, and moving. Therefore I’ve always found myself needing to prove myself, to get better grades then my classmates, to succeed. What my father’s article revealed is much different in its specific description. His story started off with a normal day, sunshine and all, but then became a sort of nightmare as he narrates his worry for me and my mother who had gone into labor six weeks early, and dread at the unsmiling faces of the doctors in green. When the doctor told him I was born via c-section, he waited until continuing that I had “anomalies, problems”. This article has always brought tears to my eyes, always made me think about the fact that the moment I was born my family had been given a burden, few others go through, and yet they handled it like a gift, handled me in the best way they could have. My parents who within my first hours of life, had baptized
ive cut my finger really badly when sharpening kitchen knives, im really worried, what should i do?!? ok, so i was sharpening a large chefs knife, and i was sharpening it quite fast, and it slipped in the steel and sliced into my knuckle on my index finger, i quickly put it under the cold water tap, and noticed it had the black dust from the steel in my cut. i tried to clean it out but some is still in there. i can not open the cut again because its gone through to my bone and really hurts. how long will this take to heal? and will the black dust off the steal infect it? im quite worried about this. i have 2 plasters around it but a bit of blood is still coming through and my fingers gone like a purple colour. any info would be really helpful. and is there any ideas on how to make it heal faster? thanks in advance, sarah.
What's your opinion on this poem? Cold, wet leaves beneath my feet As I wander along an autumn road The wind blows, whispering to me And I'm still unsure of where I go As I walk on, I hear a hushed voice My dark love beckons me further on His enchanting aura blinds my mind Until I awake and break the spell Something inside begs me to leave But curiousity get the best of me I continue on this path, still alone Then feel his eyes burning my soul I begin walking faster, heart pounding This new fear overcomes my heart Rushing on, I fall to the dark ground Wishing now that I'd turned around His weight crashes onto my body I scream and fight much to no avail My white dress stained and torn He forces his way inside of me Then takes a knife from nearby Tears run down my dirty cheeks I know that soon, I shall die Cold steel goes through my heart And the horrid man finally leaves A blood-covered woman now dead Will haunt his soul for eternity.
How does my poem sound? The Night? I remember the night of my 13th year well I remember it was night and I had the knife to my chest I felt the cold steel blade pointing me in the chest crying tears of confusion, sadness, anger, and love. Screaming and begging for love and just a simple hug. Just to get nothing but hate in return. Not thinking about how it could effect the future yet knowing it could never bring any thing but misfortune. I scream out words of nothing but regret. Just remembering that night over and over again in my mind dreaming of a family portrait yet those dreams are shattered yet getting nothing but people saying they love me yet when I cry they are never around when I need a hero I end up getting nothing but tears and that will never go away remembering that night when I was only 7 crying yet again like fate had planned for me to live in woe I tried to kill myself yet this night was not as loud it was quiet nothing but tears of sadness confusion anger and love praying to my dearest daddy god for help yet it was never given only tears and hate have been given to this girl I remember where and what I was doing the night of when I was 12 outside crying in the moonlight writing my poem wanted crying for I have given up on believing in god believing he was nothing but a made up story though here I am writing this to say my father god did answer and help me when I first asked for it for I have tried to kill myself over and over again I guess you can say it's because I want attention but that’s not it has been because god I have over came everything and am still here yet before I depart I leave you with a question why do i love the night?
Another Random Poem. I posted it before but i kinda edited it how does it sound now? The Night. By Monisha Holmes I remember the night of my 13th year well I remember it was night and I had the knife to my chest I felt the cold steel blade pointing me in the chest Crying tears of confusion, sadness, anger, and love. Screaming and begging for love and just a simple hug. Just to get nothing but hate in return. Not thinking about how it could effect the future Yet knowing it could never bring any thing but misfortune. I scream out words of nothing but regret. Just remembering that night over and over again in my mind Dreaming of a family portrait Yet those dreams are shattered Getting nothing but people saying they love me But when I cry they are never around When I need a hero I end up getting nothing but tears And that will never go away I remembering that night when I was only 7 Crying yet again like fate had planned for me to live in woe I tried to kill myself Yet this night was not as loud it was quiet Nothing but tears of sadness confusion anger And love praying to my dearest daddy god for help Yet it was never given only tears And hate has been given to this girl. I remember where and what I was doing the night of when I was 12 Outside crying in the moonlight writing my poem wanted Crying for I have given up on believing in god Believing he was nothing but a made up story Though here I am writing this to say my father god did answer And help me when I first asked for it. For I have tried to kill myself Over and over again I guess you can say it's because I want attention But that’s not it It has been because god I have over come everything, And am still here. Yet before I depart I leave you with a question Why do I love the night? When all is have ever brought me Was woe Sadness Anger Tears Death And Confusion. Thank You i'm going to use your comments to make my poem better. It means alot too me when people take the time too tell me how to better myself, and the work that i do.

Will you read and maybe comment on my short story? Warning : Foul language, violence, gore PERFECT MATCH A thunder bashed against the walls, against the space that kept him in. Others were asleep, his neighbors, those he would never see. Day one, it was and all was strange and new. A window curtain flapped around in breeze, like ghosts in yellow drapes, swayed around right and left. For a brief second it allowed the cold air to stroke against Christopher’s closed eyes, waking him at last. As he lay, naked on the sweat stained white sheets, the room looked absent, empty, bleak. He touched against the cold steel base of the lamp, and the room showed itself at last. The walls were absent, sad – not a family picture, not a Monet, not a portrait, not a hint of color to be seen, against their grayish sheen. A remnant of a dream, the illusion went with the chilly staling smell. Christopher remembered then, he had moved just yesterday. It explained the walls so grey, it explained a room so cold, a chill that settled in his soul, a space with nothing all. In a corner distant, where the wall and ceiling met, he saw an eye, then two emerge. Upside down the creature sat. Looked at him, their eyes had met. He tried to see the distant shape, but shadows hid and he had to sit, he did not dare to move. Suddenly he felt a most ominous of deaths, waiting behind the corner of his bed. He saw sharpest steel, could hear it grind against the floor, it screamed at him to show his face. He sat there; too afraid to move, too afraid the demon would smell the fear that dripped from his brow. Terrified he’d feel that saw grinding, chopping against his bone. Ripping open him in half. His chest open, dangling by his side. The severed ribs exposed, his meat, his flesh falling on the filthy floor. A feed for rats. They were there he knew. He could hear them in the sleep, the squalling, toothy rodents. Like him, the filth of society. They would gather surely, as he lay there dying. Their little whiskers would bathe in blood, but they would never stop. They’d find the way, up a sheet, not tucked in. Their claws would rip into the fabric, in a line with forks and knives. Now he was back at his family home. It was them who held the forks. He could see them snicker, his brothers, sisters. They put him on a table now, drugged him so he couldn’t move. Drugged him so he couldn’t scream as they cut the strips of skin. Diligently, slowly. They gnawed at his hips, until only bone remained. He saw his father rise, swing with a rusty mallet. A sudden crack as the leg became free. Another soon joined the two dead logs of meet. THE END “ Christopher, I don’t know what to say”, my writing teacher muttered, her hand tracing along the body of the red pen. Oh really, well that means you are a dumb fuck, who shouldn’t be a teacher, I yelled out, silently though. I could see the hesitance in her decision. “Some of the lines feel almost poetic, but you have too much tell and not nearly enough show” She kept talking. “ It feels like it’s only quality is the shock value” She paused. “It’s a good effort though I feel you can do better”, now she looked away from the page. Directly into my eyes. “I am a little concerned by these horrid themes. Are you sure everything is going okay?” “Yes”, we’ve had this conversation before, many times. I am not f****k mad… ”Ok then”, she sighed. How condescending, I thought, who the f*** is she to judge me. “ I will give you a C”, she drew it strong into the white of sheet, a circle around it. “Ok?” It was one of those long, drawn out, insincere questions. The b**** had the nerve to smile at me too. “Next please”, she called out behind the polished security of her desk. How I’d cut her throat if only I could. I got off the plastic chair. Some total loony was drooling behind me. As I went past the purple “Creative Writing Class” sign, I saw Greg waiting for me. He was the only one who could understand. And I was the only one who could see him. We are the perfect match.

Is this Revised poem good? The Samaria “I'm silent in the dark" the Samaria had me warned. "I'll sneak up behind you, soon you will be mourned. I understand your movements and hear what you say. If think you can see me, then it's too late to pray." I would not travel lone at night, only with a friend. I am coming to take you down, leaving nothing but the skin. I can sneak my way up to your chest, and hit you with my knife. I am the one who chooses, if you keep your life. When I come to kill you, you will not be asleep. All it will take, is one final sweep Bitter cold of night, I can feel your breath. A shiver and your ready, for your battle with my death. I will fight you anyplace, your sorrows I will drown. Anywhere I chose, I can cut you down. The Samaria was standing-from across the street. He was as quite as a mouse, at looking back up at me. He came closer, with cold steel in his hand. I ran to the distance, thinking of a plan. The Samaria starts to chase, and bellows out at me. "Stop your running yellow man, I'll do it quick and clean." Bitter cold of night, I can feel your breath. A shiver and your ready, for your battle with my death. I will fight you any place, your sorrows I will drown Anywhere I chose, I can cut you down. I now my breath is running out, I no more time to stall. So I net the fire poker laying on the wall. My eyes light up bright, from the brilliant glow. And I prepared for his jaw, a highly branding blow. I shove the poker to his mouth, I am sure it had to hurt. Hit the Samaria in the face and sent him to the dirt My expressions turns trite, I now can feel my soul Last thing that I remember, is his steel was mighty cold

Upon mortal knives I lay one night Slowly sinking Slowly taking As I always knew I would Their steel Their cold Their sharp, sharp reality Into the finiteness That is Me Double-spacing was not my choice: computers have a mind of their own sometimes!
Can you please read? and respond? "I'm silent in the dark" the samaria said "I'll sneak up behind you, and chop off your head I understand your movements and hear what you say If you can see me, it's too late to pray" I wouldn't travel alone at night, only with a friend I'm coming to take you down and to bring you in I can stealth my way up to your chest, hit you with my knife I'm the one who choses if you keep your life When I come to kill you, don't start to weep I am able to kill you even when you sleep Bitter cold of night, I can feel your breath A shiver and your ready for your battle with my death I'll fight you in any arena, or at the edge of town Any where I chose I can cut you down I saw the samaria at the end of the waisted street He was as quite as a mouse at looking back up at me He came closer, cold steel in his hand I ran to the distance, afraid to join the clan the samaria starts his chase and bellows out to me "stop your running yellow man, I'll do it quick and clean" I now my breath is running out, I no more time to stall so I get the numchucks laying up on the wall My sight lights up, like it was the morning sun And I prepared for his neck to be freshely wrung I twist the nunchukes to his head with the blunt of my hand Hit the samaria in the face and sent him to the sand My face turns white, and I now start to feel my inner soul One thing I remember, his steel was mighty cold
