Lots of people seem to be losing their top contributer badges?

I know they're only silly badges-but some people seem to value them. Is yahoo becoming more strict and taking back badges? I think they have the wrong idea-in December we give presents not take them back! Also- why do they take them back-is it because askers aren't asking and answering as many questions? 9. I agree that you are supposed to give this time of the year and not take away. I think that once you get it you should keep it unless you do something wrong.
10. I have had the badge three times now but have had it taken off me twice before. If I haven’t answered any questions for a couple of weeks than the badge disappears.

20. Funny, after a few months, I've just gotten mine back! They recalculate them every week. It's an algorithm. There aren't Yahoo staff looking at the activity of each of the millions of users of this site. Perhaps the people who've lost their badges are busier these days with other things. Or maybe they've changed the algorithm for awarding them. But they are silly, and basically pointless, and it's not personal, so it's not worth fretting about.
