What kind of jacket should I use to put badges on?

I've got a growing collection of badges piling up and I've always wanted to put a few onto a jacket or a bag or something, but I'm not sure what kind to get. I'd rather avoid denim or leather jackets, which are what most of the patch websites seem to advise. So what are other acceptable alternatives? And what are other popular ways to display badges aside from jackets and bags? Thanks!

1. cotton jersey jackets :) thats what I did. I also put some on a canvas Dickies Jacket I had :)
