What exactly are those gun holsters called which detectives are always wearing on tv?

I'm going to a costume party here in New Zealand and would love to go dressed as one of those detectives (eg SVU) but after a wasted half hour searching on Google, I can't find what they're called! I don't want a single-shoulder one, nor one that sits on the belt but the ones that cross the back. Can anyone please help?

This might be what you're looking for - http://www.aussiesaddle.com/shootist/item_pages/doc%20holidayr.htm They're usually called shoulder holsters, although I remember one guy referring to it as a vertical holster. (The barrel of the gun runs vertical to the ground, rather than at an angle.) It may be easier and cheaper, though, to make your own out of an old pair of braces and some heavy grosgrain ribbon. 9. I believe you're referring to the Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster. The weapon is carried on one side and two extra magazines are carried opposite.
