Do the Wii light guns use the point at the screen technology like in old Nintendo or are they just holsters?

Do the guns do any thing special to enhance the game or just shells for the wiimote and nunchuck?

1. The only thing I think would work, sadly, is shells, so keep your money. Shooters on the Wii are already fine.
