How does Gary Oak obtain ten badges from the kanto region in pokemon?

1. It's called a goof. He only has 8.
2. Yeah I think he got the other 2 from the joto region.
3. The anime is a separate universe. In the anime there are many more towns than in the games.
4. Yes, there are only 8 badges in the knato region. In fact, thats how it is for every region. That image was taken from the anime and has been photshoed b/c the last badge on the top and bottom row are not acutal badges;.
