What brand of binoculars are good but not overly expensive?

I want to get someone a set of binoculars for christmas, he uses them for hunting. I only want to spend about 50 dollars on them, anyone have any advice about brand or type or something? I'm thinking either Gander Mountain or Fleet Farm?

  1. The cheapest pair at Wal-Mart will be just fine. In recent years the difference between the very best and the worse as really diminished. Tasco is always a good bet.
  2. I have been very impressed with galileo binos, much better than my tascos and bushnells and amazon sells them pretty cheap
  3. My buddy got my a pair last year for my B-day. Bushnell auto-focusing. 8x. There's no adjustment knob, whatever you look at is in focus, very cool field glasses.
  4. I take people out birdwatching I have several loaners: http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-binoculars-12x32-powerview-roof.html http://www.opticsplanet.net/tasco-10x50-essentials.html http://www.opticsplanet.net/tasco-essentials-binoculars-frp-compact-12x32-es1232.html http://www.opticsplanet.net/tasco-essentials-binoculars-frp-compact-10x32-es1032.html http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-binoculars-10x32-frp-black-powerview-calm.html Tasco and Bushnell are the same company. The basic lines are quite good.
